The Horse Painter:
Huw Williams is a fine artist whose work is dominated by the horse, specifically stunning, striking stallions showing their power and movement.
From his Perthshire studio Huw produces works on a large scale, ranging from 5ft to 12ft, always in oil on canvas. Typically any individual piece can take from four to eight weeks.
His work hangs in the homes of many well-known private clients and prestigious corporate collections Worldwide. These include those of the King of Bahrain, Chitrangda Singh (Bollywood), Ivanhoe Mining, the China Horse Club, the Meydan, and TAK Singapore. In the UK, the Audeh Group, the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Prudential, and Lloyds Bank are among those corporate bodies with his work in their collections.
The Painting Process:
Huw will begin by drawing out the image as accurately as possible, this can take up to 3 days depending on the scale.
When he is happy with the drawing, he applies a thin wash of oil paint and turps as a core base colour for the piece. This dries overnight and then Huw can begin working on layering and marking out the painting. This includes building in depth structure and shadow as he progresses. All Artists
