ABOUT THIS PAINTING:

A fabulous large abstract canvas from one of Wiltshire’s top abstract artists – Karen Welsh.

Silbury Hill is the largest artificial prehistoric mound in Europe. Probably built over a short period between about 2470 and 2350 BC, it is one of the most intriguing monuments in the prehistoric landscape of the Avebury World Heritage Site.

“One of my latest works. I’ve been experimenting with brighter making them more intense, moving these landscapes toward the abstract” – K Welsh

A recognition of the landscape using acrylic, charcoal and pastel on canvas.

Mood – Freedom and space.

This collection will be a reflection on the landscape that evokes the past in a contemporary way. To try and capture that moment, the emotional reaction to the openness and vast distance before us.

This canvas is float framed in a discreet dark grey tray moulding, allowing the side of the canvas to be visible showing the extension of the artwork as it wraps around the the depth of the canvas. Then it has a wide slip and outer square profile moulding in off white – very impressive.
