Ryder Biography:

Lets’s enter ‘The Enchanting World of Ryder’

Intriguingly we are given no back-story to Ryder, the epitomist of enchantment, but this gives us the freedom to form our own opinions on the work without the heavy weight of preconception. As we wander through this magical world, shrouded in mystery, it is the art which becomes the narrator, rather than the creator of the work.

Ryder’s life is shrouded in mystery, so we’ll let the art do the talking.

Entering Ryder’s dreamlike world is like stepping into the mind of the painter themselves. Mixing fantasy with naïve realism, each work intertwines themes of romance, childhood and adventure to allow readers to escape reality.

The Enchanted World of Ryder is all about the artwork, with no currently published back-story behind the artist, Ryder is no more, no less than a name on a piece of paper. No artist biography to influence your impressions, just the art laid bare. Ryder allows the art to do the talking and for the audience to make their own analogies.

The artwork produced by this mysterious artist is fantasy art which takes the viewer on an imaginary journey. It is more about the viewer than the artist. The artist develops a scenario to unlock the imagination of the viewer and as such, fantasy art pieces have some of the most varied interpretations. Ryder’s art pieces are gateways into his alternate universe where anything is possible. His choice of bright colours and themes make this a cheerful world full of positive energy.

Artist Statement:
“My work is inspired by the need to escape from the harsh realities of this world”

In 2002, the world famous Pompidou Centre in Paris devoted a headline exhibition not to an artist but a to literary critic, and that critic was Roland Barthes. For the purposes of penetrating the veneer of mystique around Ryder, we must take as our reference text Barthes’ critical essay entitled ‘Death of the Author’. In it, Barthes surmises that one must disengage with the author to appreciate text in its truest form.

In essence, I assert that we as an audience have subjectivity imposed upon us – that our knowledge of an author, painter or poet ultimately colours our opinion of, and attitude towards, the piece itself. I urge you to look beyond the constraints of the simple answer, the easy route, and to judge each creation on its own merit.” – Ryder
